iPad 7th Gen Screen / Glass Replacement Description
On the iPad 7th Gen the outer glass (also called the digitizer, the part that senses your touch) is a separate part from the LCD display underneath it. That means if only the glass is cracked we only replace the glass, which keeps the cost down. This repair is for cracked, chipped or shattered glass and for touch problems such as phantom touches or dead spots when the picture itself still looks fine.

Your home button is moved over to the new glass during the repair, so Touch ID keeps working. If the picture has black blotches, lines, colored patches or no image at all, the LCD is damaged too and the Glass & LCD Replacement is the right choice.

Symptoms this repair should fix:

  • Cracked, chipped or shattered glass
  • Touch doesn't respond in some areas, or the iPad taps by itself (phantom touches)
  • Glass lifting away from the frame after a drop

Find Out Which iPad Model You Have

The iPad 7th Gen is also called the iPad (7th generation) or the iPad 10.2-inch (2019). It looks almost the same as several other iPads, so check the model number before you buy a repair. The iPad 7th Gen model numbers are A2197 (Wi-Fi), A2200 and A2198 (Wi-Fi + Cellular).

Option 1: Check in Settings
If your iPad still turns on and the screen works, open Settings > General > About. Next to Model Name you'll see "iPad (7th generation)". Next to Model Number you'll see a part number such as MW742LL/A. Tap that line once and it changes to the model number that starts with A, for example A2197.

Option 2: Look on the back of your iPad
If your iPad won't turn on or the screen is too damaged to use, turn it over. Under the word "iPad" on the back there are a few lines of small print. Look for the word "Model" followed by an A and four numbers, for example Model A2197.

Text too small to read?
Open the camera on your smartphone, point it at the small print on the back of your iPad and zoom in. You can also take a photo and zoom in on the picture. Good lighting helps, so try it near a window or a lamp.
